Designing a Vibrant Community Park for All Ages and Abilities
East Marlborough Township had the foresight to preserve a 24-acre parcel of land with the vision of developing it into Unionville Community Park, which caters to residents of all ages and abilities. Our landscape architecture firm was entrusted with bringing this vision to life. We collaborated closely with the township and the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) to secure matching funds for a comprehensive master site plan study and future development grants.
Engaging the Community through a Public Process
To ensure the Unionville Community Park design truly reflected the community’s needs and desires, our team facilitated a public process that actively engaged residents in the planning and design phases. We conducted a thorough site analysis and administered a citizen’s survey to gather valuable input from the community. This collaborative approach allowed us to create a park design that resonated with the residents and catered to their diverse interests and needs.
Designing a Multifaceted Outdoor Experience
The resulting park design is a testament to our firm’s expertise in crafting multifaceted outdoor experiences. The plan includes 1.6 miles of walking trails that wind through the park, providing leisurely strolls and nature exploration opportunities. A town green serves as a central gathering space for community events and celebrations. A picnic pavilion and open playing fields offer ample space for family gatherings and recreational activities, while playgrounds cater to the energetic spirits of children.
One of the park’s standout features is the hillside amphitheater, which provides a unique setting for outdoor performances and educational programs. Our team also integrated innovative stormwater management solutions and boardwalks to ensure the park’s sustainability and accessibility.
Our firm provided a comprehensive range of services throughout the project, including site analysis, facilitated meetings, cost estimating, and report writing.
